South Australia Police - Firearms Branch

Firearms Branch is repsonsible for issuing licences and permits and for the registration of firearms. The Commissioner of Police is the Registrar of Firearms.

Interstate Firearms Registries

If you are transferring interstate or intending to have firearms in your possession outside of South Australia, you should check with the relevant authorities.

Australian Government Attorney-General's Department

The Australian Government Attorney-General's Department is responsible for developing Australian Government policy on firearms and pursuing national consistency among State and Territory approaches to firearms policy and the control of prohibited firearms.

Australian Customs Service

Customs manages the security and integrity of Australia's borders. It works closely with other government and international agencies, in particular the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs and the Department of Defence, to detect and deter unlawful movement of goods and people across the border.
